Secure Mail

Secure mail, with messages and attachments that stay encrypted.

With Secure Mail you hold confidential conversations with other Databeamer users and with people outside Databeamer. Messages and attachments stay together in one conversation, so you can reply securely and exchange information without falling back on regular email.

You find Secure Mail under Exchange › Secure Mail.

Sending a message #

Choose New Secure Mail and fill in the recipients under To and optionally Cc and Bcc. Add a Subject, your message and any attachments through Attach files. The maximum number of attachments depends on your plan. Click Send.

Recipients with a Databeamer account can read and reply to the message within Databeamer.

Sending a message to someone without an account? Then they receive a link by email. You can protect access with a passphrase, which you share separately, or with a code by email. The recipient can read the message, download attachments and reply through Send reply.

Guest access expires after 30 days. You can also recall the access earlier.

Managing conversations #

You can filter the list of conversations by All conversations, Started by me, Unread or Waiting for reply.

Do you want to involve a colleague in a conversation? Choose Add member. That person gets access to new messages. If the colleague should also be able to read earlier messages, use Grant history.

Secure Mail for your organisation #

Secure Mail is currently available as an option from your personal account. Do you want to use Secure Mail from your organisation, for example for business mail? Then contact us to discuss the possibilities.

An Outlook add-in is also possible, so you can send secure mail from Outlook. Contact us if you want to know what is possible here.

Limits #

Your plan determines how many new Secure Mail conversations you can start per month. Replies to existing conversations do not count. For organisational use, including any shared mailboxes, you can contact Databeamer.

Security detailsWhat is this?

• Messages are encrypted on your device before they are sent; only the participants in the conversation hold the key.
• Attachments are encrypted the same way, including the file name and other file details.
• For guests, access is protected with a passphrase or with a key that is released after verification through an email code.
• Recall delivery prevents further access through the guest link, but cannot retrieve information the recipient has already opened or saved.
• Notification emails contain the sender and a link, but not the subject or the message text.

When you add a new member, they do not automatically get access to earlier messages. For that you must explicitly use Grant history.
